Exhibits and Temporary Structures
Overview
Persons desiring to build and/or maintain a temporary structure or display an exhibit must obtain approval through Student Involvement & Engagement (SI&E)
Persons who erect a temporary structure or display an exhibit assume full responsibility for the structure or exhibit, including all injuries or hazards that may arise from the structure or exhibit. The university shall not be liable for any damage that may occur to the structure or exhibit, and any person or organization sponsoring the structure or exhibit shall indemnify the university for any claims arising from their presence on campus.
Exhibit
A display that is intended to convey a particular message, which may include posters and signs, or furniture and furnishings, such as desks, tables, boxes, and other objects.
Temporary Structure
A physical object that is intended to convey a particular message. Temporary structures may be props and displays, such as coffins, crates, crosses, cages, and statues; furniture and furnishings, such as desks, tables, bookcases, and cabinets; shelters, such as tents, boxes, shanties, and other enclosures; and other objects. Persons may not inhabit, sleep in, camp in, or use a temporary structure as a shelter, unless prior approval is given.
Request Forms
All requests for Exhibits and Temporary Structures are received and reviewed by the Campus Access Team in Student Involvement & Engagement - Operations and Assessments (SIE). SIE, when applicable, will consult with the appropriate venue or coordinating department regarding requests.
Request Timeline
- Requests can be made as early as 30 days from the request date.
- Requests are due at least 10 business days before the requested date.
- Exhibits and Temporary Structures are not allowed on weekends and holidays (see list of dates for University closures and Energy Conservation Days).

- Major disruption and/or unaddressed complaints may be cause for early termination of the event.
- Additional regulations for sale of goods or services, alcohol consumption, providing food, posting flyers or advertisements, reservation of site or facilities, use of vendors, etc., will require additional forms and/or approval.
- The university president or designee may grant exceptions to these provisions.

Bobcat Trail
Outdoor spaces in the Bobcat Trail are managed by the SIE Campus Access Team.

Location:
Bobcat Trail is located between Evans Liberal Arts, Undergraduate Academic Center (UAC), and Nueces Hall. It begins near the UAC Arch and continues to the flags located near Flowers Hall.
LBJ Amphitheatre
LBJ Amphitheatre is managed by LBJ Student Center - Conference Services.

Location:
The LBJ Student Center Amphitheatre is located on the ground floor and external side of LBJ Student Center - 109 Student Center Drive, San Marcos, Texas 78666.
LBJ Mall
Outdoor spaces in the LBJSC Mall Area are managed by the SIE Campus Access Team.

The LBJ Student Center Mall Area is located between LBJ Student Center and Alkek Library. The space includes one electrical power source location.
Sewell Park
Sewell Park is managed by Outdoor Center - Campus Recreation.

Location:
Sewell Park is located on near the intersection of Aquarena Springs Drive and E. Sessoms Drive. The University Events Center/Strahan Coliseum and Jowers Center or located adjacent to Sewell Park. The Outdoor Recreation Center is located at Sewell Park.
The Quad
Outdoor spaces in the Quad are managed by the SIE Campus Access Team.

Location:
The Quad is located in the center of the San Marcos campus, and nestled between Derrick Hall, Taylor-Murphy History Hall, Comal Building, Evans Liberal Arts, and Flowers Hall. There are no electrical power outlets available in this space.
