Our Leadership & Service Council serves as the face and student voice of the Leadership and Service area within Student Involvement and Engagement. With their dedication to leadership education and serving as agents of community service, our team works towards supporting our mission and providing opportunities for students to become involved and engaged with the various opportunities within our area.
Leadership & Service Council
The Leadership & Service Council is a paid student worker position within Student Involvement and Engagement that comprises of students who have a passion and interest in serving as stewards of service and leadership educators. At the end of the Spring semester, positions will open for students to apply and be interviewed by our Leadership & Service professional staff. Our council members not only works towards promoting Leadership & Service initiatives and opportunities, but serve as representatives of the overall Student Involvement and Engagement department.
Our council is separated into two branches that support our area's goals and initiatives - LEAD and SERVE. Below are brief descriptions of the two branches for reference.
LEAD Council
Members of our LEAD Council work towards providing leadership education and development opportunities for Texas State University students. This includes:
- Assisting with the coordination and execution of the Bobcats LEAD retreats and pathway programs.
- Facilitating peer-to-peer leadership development workshops for student organizations or departments as requested.
SERVE Council
Members of our SERVE Council work towards promoting community service initiatives and opportunities for the Texas State community. This includes:
- Serving as student trip leaders and small group facilitators for Bobcat Break.
- Collaborating with community partners to coordinate Service Saturday projects.
