Each year, Leadership and Service partners with the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum in Austin to commemorate the signing of the 1965 Higher Education Act by President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Select campus delegates participate in this unique opportunity and engage in activities and discussions with experts on the life and legacy of the university's most famous alumnus, President Lyndon B. Johnson.
LBJ Presidential Library Trip
Why should you attend?
President Lyndon B. Johnson, one of the most distinguished graduates of Texas State University, serves as an example of how one's impact can be influential in creating change for the well-being of others. We believe that the opportunity for our students to listen and connect with leaders who have worked with and were inspired by the former president can have a profound impact on their own leadership journeys. Students will also be able to tour the LBJ Library to view the legacy, life, and impact of President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Who can go?
Student participants are identified through select departments on campus, but students not affiliated with a select department and are interested are able to participate with the group if space permits. Common areas we collaborate with to ensure spots are filled are below:
- TRIO Programs
- Texas Leadership Scholars
- Gold Star Society
- President's Leadership Class
- Student Government Association
- Department of Political Science
