The Texas Leadership Scholars program, supported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), is a state-wide, premier leadership program aimed at keeping high achieving, low-income Texas graduates in the state to pursue their higher education. The program consists of connecting cohorts of participating students with peer and professional networks and mentors, continuous leadership development, opportunities for undergraduate research, and job skill training such as resume writing, communication, and collaboration.

Requirements and Benefits
While we are thrilled to guide you on your leadership journey through this unique opportunity, being a part of the Texas Leadership Scholars program is a commitment from beginning to end. Below are some of the requirements (and benefits) of actively participating in this opportunity:
- Attend monthly meetings with your cohort focused on leadership development, career readiness, and research
- 2-year on-campus living requirement in the TLSP Living Learning Community
- Peer mentor opportunities
- Participate in monthly community service and social activities coordinated by Leadership and Service staff or the TLSP Director Board
- Opportunities to pursue leadership positions on the TLSP Director Board
Summer Programs
- Annual Leadership Conference: Each summer a member institution will hold an annual leadership conference.
- Study Abroad: Scholars can apply to participate in a TLS-specific paid study abroad experience.
- Internship Stipends: Scholars can apply for an internship stipend if pursuing an unpaid summer internship.
