Please note: these opportunities are not affiliated with Student Involvement and Engagement and will not have Leadership and Service team members or student leaders present. It is the responsibility of the individual to contact the partner, register for opportunities, find transportation to the site, etc.

  • DESCRIPTION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas needs volunteer mentors to be matched with youth in your area! When you volunteer to become a Big Brother or Sister, you’ll not only make a positive impact on the life of a child, but you’ll enrich your own life and have fun as well. Little moments lead to big impacts when you spend consistent, authentic time with a youth! Match outings range from going on a walk, getting ice cream, working on homework, playing a game, or trying a new activity! This opportunity is flexible to fit your personality and interests.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Volunteer Bigs are expected to meet with their Little 2-3 times a month for at least one year. Every match is responsible for scheduling outings based on personal schedules.

  • DESCRIPTION: School Fuel San Marcos is a volunteer-ran organization that packs weekend food for children who are considered to be food insecure in SMCISD. We are looking for volunteers to help us pack food sacks.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Every Wednesday from 1pm - 2pm and every Thursday from 5pm - 7pm

  • DESCRIPTION: Hosted by Keep San Marcos Beautiful, the annual Fall River Cleanup is back! Volunteers who register will assist in cleanup efforts at one of 16 watershed sites across the City of San Marcos.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Saturday, October 5th from 8:30am - 11:30am

    LOCATION: Volunteers will report to the site in which they registered for.

    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Please bring reusable water bottles and stay hydrated! Dress appropriately for the site in which you register; most sites have uneven terrain, areas of tall grass, flowing water, or are muddy following rain events. Long pants, long sleeves, and appropriate footwear are recommended.

  • DESCRIPTION: PALS Prevent Litter is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our spay and neuter clinics and assist with office tasks.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Various dates and times are available throughout the month of September. View the link located below for more details.

  • DESCRIPTION: Join Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB) in taking care of our neighborhood trees! Volunteers will help care for trees by mulching and pruning.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Saturday, September 20 from 9:00am-12:00pm

    LOCATION: Crook Park (420 Riverside Dr, San Marcos, TX 78666)

  • DESCRIPTION: Teacher Reuse is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that provides donated classroom resources to public and charter school teachers in Central Texas for free. Opportunities can range from assisting teachers who are shopping for free resources, to accepting, sorting, and shelving incoming donations, to assist in social media marketing and other outreach opportunities.

    VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: Every Saturday from 10am - 6pm and every Tuesday from 1pm - 6pm (hours may vary)

    LOCATION: Teacher Reuse (1040 Hwy 123 Bldg 3, San Marcos, TX 78666). We are located in the backyard of the San Marcos Utilities Building.
