Bobcat Break
Bobcat Break, Texas State University's Alternative Break program, is an experiential opportunity for students to travel, explore various social issues impacting different communities, and understand their relationship to the global community through education, reflection, and direct service. These all-inclusive, short-term service trips are perfect for those seeking to be challenged, empowered and create impact.

Bobcat Build's Big Event
Started in 2003, Bobcat Build's Big Event is Texas State's way of sending a big “Thank You” to the San Marcos community, becoming the largest service project on campus and a springtime tradition. Every year, Bobcats volunteer across Hays County to partake in activities such as landscaping, painting, clean-ups at homes, schools, churches, and so on.

Champion of Service Award
This new recognition initiative honors and celebrates students who have demonstrated sustained, meaningful service and community engagement during their time at Texas State. Eligible students can self-nominate themselves to receive an award based on the service hours approved in the Bobcat Organization Hub. This award occurs both Fall and Spring semesters.

Leadership & Service connects students with a wide range of volunteer roles offered by local non-profits and community partners throughout the San Marcos and Austin areas. Texas State students are also able to submit and track service hours through the Bobcat Organization Hub. View our page to find current service opportunities. Newman Civic Fellowship
The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes community-committed students who are changemakers in their communities, and showcase the ability to be impactful models of social change. Nominated to Campus Compact by the university president, selected fellows receive training, virtual learning, and networking support from a national community focused on social impact. This yearlong fellowship cultivates changemakers, offering tools and strategies to turn passion into community-centered action.

The Non-Profit & Volunteer Fair brings local non-profit organizations, community partners, and service-based departments or student organizations to campus for students to discover new ways to engage in the local community. Whether you're seeking community service or engagement opportunities, or wanting more information about potential service-based internships with a non-profit, it's a simple and engaging way to jump in.

Service Saturdays
Service Saturdays are one-day service projects that are planned throughout the academic year by the Leadership and Service team or the university. Taking place every month, students can sign up to participate in one of our Service Saturdays to engage in meaningful projects that benefit students and the communities we serve.
