Tracking your service hours can be useful for the long-run - whether you're using them for medical school or post-graduation endeavors, seeking award recognition, or simply storing them for your own records. Plus, the process is simple! Follow the steps below to learn how you can submit service hours through the Bobcat Organization Hub.
Step 1: Access the Bobcat Organization Hub
Click the ‘Bobcat Org Hub’ button at the bottom of the page or visit go.txstate.edu/hub to access the Bobcat Organization Hub. Log in using your Texas State login information.
Step 2: Where to Submit Hours
Once logged in, click the initial in the top right corner of the page to access the drop-down menu. Click ‘Service Hours’. Once on the page, select the blue box that says ‘+ Add Service Hours’.
Step 3: Submit Service Hours
Complete the submission form with the following information:
- Name of *Organization
- The Bobcat Organization Hub refers to organizations as any student group or department with a Hub page. Be sure you already have membership to your organization's page prior to submitting hours! This will help track not only your involvement, but your organization's accrued hours among members.
- Volunteering without representation or don't have any memberships?
- Complete this contact form to be added to the Leadership & Service page. This roster is updated every week. Once added, you can select Leadership & Service as your organization when submitting your hours.
- This form also allows you to opt in to our newsletters! You can make multiple submissions.

- Verification contacts can be one of two things: a group leader if volunteering was done with a student organization or department team, or the volunteer/site coordinator who oversaw the project.
Submission are approved as received. If submission do not have the following details above, our staff has the ability to deny and leave notes for resubmission.
Approvable vs. Non-Approvable Service Hours

Approvable Service Hours

Community & Non-Profit Engagement
- Volunteer hours completed through a recognized community partner, local agency, or non-profit organization
- Assisting at shelters, food banks, community gardens, or other service-based programs
- Supporting civic or community projects (e.g., park cleanups, literacy tutoring, youth mentorship, etc.)

Faith-Based or Mission Service
- Direct service through a faith-based or secular mission trip focused on helping communities (e.g., home repairs, food distribution, disaster relief, etc.)
- Activities must prioritize service to others, not religious instruction or proselytizing.

Civic Engagement
- Volunteer-led voter registration drives, community advocacy projects, or nonpartisan education initiatives.
- Assisting with local community events, outreach efforts, or civic improvement campaigns.

Academic & Experiential Service
- Community- or service-based internships tied to a community engagement or service initiative (if not required for class).
- Academic service-learning projects where direct benefit to a community partner or group is clearly demonstrated.

Leadership & Service Program Participation
The following programs have pre-approved service hour designations for verified participants:
Bobcat Break
- Student participants: 20 hours
- Student trip leaders: 40 hours
Bobcat Build’s Big Event
- General volunteers: 4 hours
- Job Site Leaders: 8 hours
- Planning Committee Members: 40 hours
- Planning Board Members: 80 hours
Service Saturdays
- General participants: 3 hours per project
- Site Leaders: 6 hours per project

Student Involvement & Engagement Programming
Volunteer assistance provided at Student Involvement & Engagement events or programs only when student volunteers are needed for community-facing efforts or event operations.

Organizational or Membership Activities
- Attending general body meetings, officer meetings, or retreats
- Participating in recruitment/tabling events
- Holding leadership positions
- Team bonding or social events
- Fundraising for the organization’s own expenses and sustainability, including bake sales.

Activities Without a Clear Community Impact
- Planning or attending events with no service or philanthropic component
- Posting on social media, self- or student organization promotion, or doing administrative work for your organization
- Participating in awareness events without an active volunteer role (i.e., running a marathon)
- Donating money or goods without direct involvement (i.e., dropping off canned food but not helping sort or distribute)

Internships or field placements required for a major or minor

- Simply attending or observing an event (e.g., a charity dinner, or panel)
- Virtual or “click” activities like online petitions or awareness posts
