Joining the TXST Panhellenic community is an exciting journey, and there are two great avenues to become a part of this vibrant sisterhood.
The primary route is through the Fall Primary Recruitment Process, which serves as the leading recruitment event for sororities.
It's a fantastic opportunity to explore different chapters, meet new friends, and find your perfect fit among various organizations.
Overview
We are so excited to introduce you to your collegiate and Panhellenic experience during your first few weeks on campus. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and inclusive community for all our members. Your decision to join a Panhellenic sorority is one that commits you to collegiate years focused on personal development, service, and connection along with a continued goal of improving our campus and community. While your college experience may only last four years, the bonds of sisterhood paired with the memories you will make will last you a lifetime.
Formal Recruitment
Formal Recruitment is the main process the National Panhellenic Conference sororities at Texas State University use to recruit new members. All women interested in participating in the recruitment process must register with the TXST Panhellenic. During the recruitment events, women will have the time to ask questions about sorority activities, financial obligations, new member programs, scholarship, community service and sorority life in general.
No Obligation to Join
Participating in Formal Recruitment does not obligate a woman to join a sorority, nor does participation in the recruitment process guarantee that a woman will receive a bid to join a sorority.
Mutual Selection Process
Panhellenic Recruitment is a mutual selection process, aiming to align the preferences of potential new members with those of the sororities. While efforts are made to accommodate preferences, there are no guarantees of placement, emphasizing the importance of an open mind and the opportunity to make new friends.
Potential new members and sororities both make choices during this process, with potential new members deciding which parties to attend and sororities selecting whom to invite. It’s essential for potential new members to understand that they may not always receive invitations to their preferred parties and to consider all sororities on campus. Many potential new members set themselves up for disappointment by emphasizing what a few members have led them to believe. Trust the process to guide you to the chapter where you will be able to grow as a leader, young woman, and TXST student.
If you have any questions please contact the Panhellenic Council at panhellenic@txstate.edu or 512-245-JOIN(5646).
