The Panhellenic Council is a collegiate chapter of the National Panhellenic Conference.

We, as undergraduate members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding good health, for maintaining fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community.

How To Get Involved

Recruitment Process & Guidelines

Texas State Panhellenic offers two ways to join an NPC sorority: Fall Primary Recruitment (formal, structured) and Continuous Open Bidding (COB) (informal, year‑round when available).

No Obligation to Join
Participating in Formal OR COB Recruitment does not obligate a woman to join a sorority, nor does participation in the recruitment process guarantee that a woman will receive a bid to join a sorority

Pathway 1 - Formal Fall Primary Recruitment Guidelines

What It Is

A multi‑day, structured process using mutual selection. This is the main way to join one of the 8 Panhellenic sororities.

Eligibility
  • GPA: Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (HS GPA used for incoming freshmen).
  • Affiliation: Cannot already be an initiated member of another Panhellenic sorority.
Registration Steps
  1. PNMs must complete all items in Campus Director: Online Application
  1. $120 Registration Fee (required to complete registration)
Process Expectations
  • Mutual Selection: PNMs rank chapter preferences after each round, and chapters submit their invitation lists.
  • Attendance: Mandatory for Day 0 (Orientation) and all scheduled recruitment rounds. Unexcused absences result in removal.
  • Conflict Form: Submit to your Recruitment Counselor (RC) as soon as you know you have a conflict.
  • Recommendation Letters: Not required. Panhellenic does not accept physical or emailed letters; individuals must contact chapters directly.
Recruitment Rounds
  • Day 0 (Sunday, August 30, 2026): Orientation & Meet the Chapters
  • Round 1 (September 4-5, 2026): Philanthropy (2 days)
  • Round 2 (Sunday, September 6, 2026): Sisterhood
  • Round 3 (Monday, September 7, 2026): Preference (MRABA signed)
  • Bid Day (Tuesday, September 8, 2026): Invitations distributed

Pathway 2 - Continuous Open Bidding Guidelines (COB / Informal)

What It Is

An informal, unstructured process that occurs outside the formal fall recruitment period.

How It Works
  • Chapter Eligibility: Only chapters below the campus total may participate; not all 8 will offer COB.
  • Timeline: Opens after Fall Primary Recruitment and continues through the academic year.
  • Structure: No set schedule, no orientation, no registration fee.
  • Events: Chapters host casual, independent events and extend bids directly.
  • Students who accept a bid must complete the Fraternity & Sorority Life Induction Form and COB MRABA in the office.

Letter of Recommendation

Note on Letters of Recommendation: Letters of recommendation are optional and not required for Texas State Panhellenic Recruitment.

If an alumna or another individual would like to submit a recommendation, it must be submitted directly to the chapter's national headquarters according to that organization's specific policies and preferences.

You can find the respective submission portals via the national organization websites here:
