Every year, members of our community register as a 'job site' for volunteers to do a variety of projects as requested. Resident or not, we are fortunate to be able to serve many within the Hays County region.
Why We Serve
Thousands of volunteers within our Texas State University community look forward to this day every year as it gives us the ability to give back and express our gratitude to the community that accepts and supports Texas State University.
It is important to remember that our success is not about the number of jobs completed or reaching record-breaking numbers; it is the relationship we create between students and community members that makes our event so memorable and impactful for both volunteers and the community.
Who We Serve
We serve a variety of neighbors within Hays County!
This includes residents, non-profit organizations, places of worship, schools, and more - regardless of socioeconomic level.
How We Serve
On the day of service, groups of volunteers are sent into the community to spend a maximum of four hours assisting with a variety of projects as requested by the site owner(s).
Many requests include, but are not limited to, beautification projects such as raking leaves, gardening, painting, window washing, trimming limbs, and general spring cleaning.
Process to Become Job Site
OPEN CALL FOR JOB SITES
Every year, a call for job requests is made to the larger community in which residents, community organizations, and schools and more can submit their requests for projects.
SITE EVALUATIONS
The Planning Team will schedule in-person site evaluations once a request is received.
These evaluations are required and provide us a chance to review and confirm all requested projects, identify tool needs, ensure safety for our volunteers, sign paperwork, and most importantly, give our team the chance to engage with our community.
QUESTIONS
If you have questions, contact us at bigevent@txstate.edu or include it on a Job Request Form.
